NWI General Overview

In December 2012, the National Wind Institute (NWI) was established at Texas Tech University. The NWI’s main focus is to stimulate discovery and innovation, research solutions to wind-related problems, and educated the next generation of wind workers. The NWI is the nation’s leading university wind focused research and education enterprise.

In 2003, the first wind Ph.D. program was developed. Since then, NWI has continued to grow and provide leadership in wind energy education.

NWI organizes and administers large multi-dimensional wind-related research projects and serves as the contact point for major project sponsors and other external partners.
