Texas Tech is the only university in the state of Texas that offers a Ph.D. program through the National Wind Institute (NWI). Courses are offered to receive a Bachelor of Science degree program in wind energy, and education certifications for technical professionals in the field. This program provides these graduates with the education necessary to solve problems related the effects of windstorms.
NWI doctoral students travel all over the world to widen their horizons in order to meet the intellectual goals demanded by the program. These graduates are recruited worldwide to work in a variety of fields within the Wind Energy Field.
The Bachelor of Science in Wind Energy Program that was created in 2011 currently has about 200 students. It is tailored to graduate students who are pursuing higher education degrees in the electric energy field.
